HOW WE STARTED MY BUSINESS AT 
15-YEARS OLD

WHERE THE MINDSET CAME FROM:

Ever since we can remember, my brother and I were taught that you have to work for whatever you want. Starting at a young age, our dad would take us to work with him. He owned a tree trimming company and would pay us five dollars every time we went along. We’d wake up around 5:30 am and get home close to 4 pm. Going to work day after day taught us early on that if you wanted something, you had to earn it.

At the time, we didn’t always enjoy the early mornings, but looking back now, we understand why our dad pushed us like that. That work ethic was drilled into us, and we’re grateful for it. Today, we run a successful window cleaning company that helps us save for college while also reinforcing the same mindset we grew up with.

Every time we’re on the job, we remember something our dad told us when we were younger: “La calidad se recuerda mucho después de que el precio se olvida,” meaning “Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten.” That’s why we always prioritize customer satisfaction and focus on quality over quantity in everything we do.

HOW NOVA STARTED

The summer of 2022 marked a major turning point for us. At the time, we were working as lifeguards, earning $8.25 an hour, and honestly, we hated it. Sitting in the scorching Houston heat all day, watching people swim, quickly drained any motivation we had. The breaking point came when a parent asked for help unclogging a toilet. That moment made it clear we wanted something better.

When we got home that day, we started scrolling TikTok looking for side hustles for teenagers. One idea that stood out was painting house numbers on curbs to improve visibility. We made a plan to go door to door in our neighborhood offering the service. At first, we were nervous, but we realized growth only happens outside your comfort zone. Even though we were only making $20 per curb, we kept searching for something with more potential and eventually discovered window cleaning. Excited by the opportunity, we picked up our first equipment from The Home Depot and put our door-to-door sales skills to work.

With the goal of saving for college, we spent afternoons knocking doors from 3 pm until sunset. Every no made us tougher, and landing our first $100 job felt like a huge win.

Fast forward to today, as we approach graduating high school in 2024, the biggest lesson we’ve learned is the importance of quality over quantity. Providing professional, high-quality service has been what truly set us apart.
